Buenos Aires 2

12 februari 2017 - Buenos Aires, Argentinië

On saturday, we walked to the South: we visited the market in the San Telmo quarter, then we walked to the famous Bombonera stadium (the soccer stadium of Boca Juniors) and visited La Boca quarter. La Boca, originally, was the neighbourhood of the working class and of the -mostly italian- immigrants. The houses were coloured with boat painture. Nowadays, this quarter is very touristic.
In the evening, we went to the Centro Cultural de Kirchner, where our guide from yesterday had recommended to go to a Tango evening. First there was a free Tango lesson, than a dance show. We were very motivated for learning a bit to dance the famous Tango, but once on the stage with the other couples, we understood that they were all argentinian, and they already danced quiet well! The teacher explained one step after the other, in spanish, while we walked on each others feet and quickly were completely lost. So we prefered sitting at the side and watching the others.
On sunday, it was raining, no strong rain but steady rain. We visited again the city center, where we already had made a little walk on thursday afternoon. The congress, the pink house, the Teatro Colon, the obelisque... After 3h walking in the rain, we decided to go back to the hotel, where we took a rest and wrote this blog.

All in all, we liked Buenos Aires. It is a city full of nice buildings and full of culture. Bytheway, it feels much safer than Rio, actually it feels like every big city. We definitely could have spent more time here!
But we are looking forward to the South: The end of the world is waiting for us!
