Buenos Aires 1

10 februari 2017 - Buenos Aires, Argentinië

Buen día! That's how the say good morning in Buenos Aires.

Our stay in Buenos Aires began somewhat nasty.
We knew that in Southamerica your stuff can be stolen, you can get ill of canine madness and you have to keep attention not to get into a demonstration. But we were not prepared for this:
We just began our city tour, walking on the street, bytheway just talking about how well-developped Buenos Aires seems to us, when suddenly, a shower of liquid came over us. We first thought about a bird, but it was too much and too liquid to be bird's faeces, and it smelled so bad! We went into a restaurants toilet, cleaned neck, shirt and backpack with water and soap, but the smell stayed everywhere. So we went back to the hotel, took a long shower and brought all the stuff to a laundry service.
After the lunch, we restarted our city tour: we walked to the north. There you have the rich people's buildings, and the rich people's cementery, with the tomb of Eva Perón.
Eva Perón (Evita) was the wife of president Juan Perón, and they both payed much attention to the poor population, the working class. It was the first time in argentinian history that a president payed really attention to the normal population. Eva Perón died in 1952.
And there we learned our first lesson: Argentinians love Eva Perón! An old man told us of the Perón period (in spanish with strong accent, we understood nearly nothing), a young man traduced to easy spanish, and we understood about half of it. The young man showed us his mobile phone background photo: Eva Perón. Even if he has never seen her!
After the cemetery visit, came the 2nd lesson: we met a young guy who proposed us a "critical thinking tour". We accepted, and that was a good decision! Together with 2 other tourists, we visited some places in the neighbourhood, and listened to Buenos Aires history. A very complicated history with lots of wars, dictatorship, coups d'état, Peronismo... and this guy knew everything by heart, answered our questions, and finally gave us tips where to eat, which cultural events to visit and where to dance tango.

The liquid thing happened to me as well, only this time it was clear water. People tend to throw their liquid waste of their balcony, I don't know why
